ONE SUMMER DAY

Once summer day in the afternoon
After noon, after it all

We took a walk in the afterglow
Afterglow, so I recall.

Butterflies, bluebirds, and daisys in bloom.
Your bonnet, your Bonwit perfume.
Badminton, lawn bowling, all we presume.
All we resume when they call.

One summer day, in our memory
Memory, after the Fall.
